What does MPVS do with your donations?
We stock our Seaside Benefit Shop with the best clothing, housewares, books, collectibles, and other items we receive from our many generous donors. Because we have no paid staff, nearly all proceeds are then donated to deserving Peninsula non-profits. And the sales really add up! MPVS has given more than $1 million in grants and gifts since 2003. And since incorporating in 1955, we have given more than $3.7 million to many deserving non-profits, with emphasis on educational and cultural-improvement programs and organizations serving children, women, seniors, people with special needs, and the hungry.
We pass on as much as we can of what we can’t use in the shop to other deserving organizations or Last Chance Mercantile. (For example, clothing, sleeping bags, and travel-size personal-care products go to agencies serving people who are homeless; kids’ clothes go to those serving kids.)
